solihull hospital

Ecolite have a huge amount of experience in the healthcare sector, having completed 12 large scale lighting projects for NHS hospitals. A number of these have involved the retrofit of complete hospitals, accounting for between 5000 and 9000 luminaires per site. The healthcare sector presents a particularly challenging environment in which to make a lighting retrofit whilst not effecting the day to day function of the hospital. Excellent project management and a high quality of customer service are essential in making a success of this type of project.

Solihull Hospital was built in the late 1980's and was equipped originally with T8 switch start luminaires. A large proportion of these have been replaced on a ‘one for one’ retrofit basis over a 4 month period. Providing a scheme of luminaire replacement has allowed the hospital to benefit from a much improved light quality as all the discoloured old diffusers have been replaced, whilst making a substantial energy saving and CO2 reduction. Areas upgraded included wards, corridors, operating theatres and out patient areas. This project benefited from our ability to manufacture bespoke and 'out of size' luminaires for areas such as operating theatres.
